Fathers’ Day Sausage Sizzle

September 7th, 2009 by · 1 Comment · Uncategorized

For Fathers’ Day celebrations the preppies planned a sausage sizzle for the Dads.  We gave our Dads three presents – a pot plant, a book about dad and a portrait of Dad.  We played musical statues and the “bean” game.   We hope our Dads had a great afternoon.  We had lots of fun.

August 31st, 2009 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

Tuesday 18 August we had a visit from Mrs Fuller from Moreton Bay Regional Council. We learnt all about Whizzy the Water Drop and his Incredible Adventures.  We looked a diagrams of the Water Cycle and talked about ways to save water around our house.

These are some things you can do:

Turn off the tap whe you brush your teeth.

Take short showers.

Don’t fill the bath too full.

Install a 1/2 flush toilet.

Fill the dishwasher with a full load.

Put a bucket in he shower to catch the water when you are waiting for the right temperature then use it on your garden.

Use a shower timer.

Install a rainwater tank/s.

Glossy Black Cockatoo Feed Tree Project

August 4th, 2009 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

On Thursday 30/07 our class and our buddy classes (Navy Prep, Magenta6/7) planted 50 Casuarina Trees in and around our school.  These feed trees will eventually grow food for the Glossy Black Cockatoo.  We are hoping to attract more of these birds back into our area.  The trees were provided by the Glossy Black Cockatoo Conservancy.  Our Planting site was listed as a Planet Ark  National Tree Day Activitiy.
